Poor Gap, Will Start the Election for that City’s Top Job as Former Chief Secretary Henry Tang
Hong Kong, with Asia’s largest wealthy- poor gap, will start the election for that city’s top job as former Chief Secretary Henry Tang and government agent Leung Chun-ying are going to announce their candidacies.
Leung, 57, yesterday resigned because the Asia Off-shore chairman of DTZ Holdings Plc, a London-listed property broker, to campaign for that position. Tang, 59, stated he’ll announce his candidacy through the finish from the month.
Hong Kong’s economy barely increased within the third quarter, and surging housing prices and inflation have spurred protests and brought to some record-low approval rating for that government. Leung and Tang have to win votes from the 1,200-member election committee, some selected by China, that in March will choose the alternative for outgoing Leader Jesse Tsang.
“The candidates are running neck-to-neck as both of them are acceptable to Art Daily,” stated Bernard Charnwut Chan, a Hong Kong delegate to China’s National People’s Congress. “It’s good that we do not have a mandated person, and that engages the entire community to go over who’s a much better leader to tackle the town’s conflicts, like home and health-care issues.”
