Have you ever wondered why toys for babies tend to have so many bells, whistles and lights? Or why they have so many different textures, and materials and colors?
It’s almost as if we want to provide young babies with a whole world of stimulation and we can’t quite get it to them fast enough.

Play gyms or activity gyms as they are sometimes called tend to be a firm favorite with babies from newborn up to about 12 months. These play gyms and activity nests mostly come
in the form of comfortable, quilted or softly padded playmats, sometimes raised at the edges with a space in the middle for baby (like a ring doughnut).
And these play gyms can be either brightly colored or in soft, pastel shades.
But don’t be fooled by thinking they are just snug and comfy resting places for babies to fall asleep in!
These activity gyms can provide a plethora of visual, audio and tactile stimulation for fast developing young inquisitive minds.

Often decorated with well known and lovable characters, Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger, Eyore, or farm and zoo animals as well, they can consist of detachable, hanging parts for small babies to try to grasp. They tend to have parts that are crinkly, soft, scrunchy textures for baby to touch, squeeze and stroke. Some come with bright twinkling lights and bells and others make funny sounds, or musical sounds, and some even do both.
You will often find mirrors attached to these activity gyms, so that your baby gets to find and see its own reflection, often providing hours of fun for babies and carers alike. All of this is extremely important for developing young minds.
Babies are like a sponge, they are ready to absorb whatever information they can – and boy – they can’t grasp it fast enough!
A lot of new research points to the first three years of life as being critical to a baby’s developing brain. It is a known fact that during this period, not only does the brain triple
in weight but it also establishes thousands of billions of nerve connections. Astonishingly, at the age of three, a young child has twice as many nerve connections as many adults. Therefore, in your role as a parent, or primary care giver, it is of paramount importance that you recognize this and understand just how much development is taking place inside your young baby’s brain from birth until the age of three.
At birth, children have most of the neurons (brain cells) they need for a lifetime however, these brain cells are not yet linked (or “wired”) together to form the complex networks that are required for mature thought processes to take place. And what happens is that in the early years, young children’s brain cells form these connections, or synapses as they are commonly called, very very rapidly.

One of the crucial ingredients to aiding these connections to form, is experience, and repetition.

In a word, the more times you repeat something new, like showing a baby how to scrunch up a ball, the quicker these connections are formed. Therefore, it naturally follows that the more positive interaction you give an infant or toddler, the more you are helping to stimulate young brains.
This stimulation causes new connections to form neural pathways and strengthens existing ones.

Playing with activity gyms, with all the bells and whistles that they offer or reading to a child, anything which allows a child to have positive, interactive processes, will aid your child’s brain development.

So, as you lovingly sit and watch your young baby laughing and gurgling on the play mat or under the activity gym – do not underestimate the power of the changes taking place in the brain, all enriching an inquisitive mind and arming it with a plethora of knowledge and understanding for years to come.

“The money’s in your list” – how many times have you heard this statement? Plenty I’ll bet… Ever wondered why it’s been repeated so often it’s like a mantra?

Simple, it’s the truth. Anybody who owns a list containing the contact details of people interested in their products or services, has a high degree of control over sales.

Luckily, there are numerous low or no cost ways you can rapidly double, triple or even quadruple the size of your opt in subscriber list. Here are 3 of them:

1) Increase Your Opt In List Through Ezine Advertising.

Many ezine publishers incorporate advertisements into their emails. Most will charge for this, but there are ezine owners who publish ads for free.

Without getting too involved, here are the three basic types of ezine ads:

i) Solo Ads – separate emails dedicated to a single advert, and are the most effective. Unfortunately, nearly all ezine publishers will charge for a solo ad.

ii) Top Sponsor Ads – a short classified ad published at the top of an email. Not as effective as solo ads, but most ezine publishers will charge for these.

iii) Trailer Ads – these are short ads published in the middle or at the bottom of the email and are the least effective. They are often grouped with a number of other ads, and are the most likely type of free ezine advertising you’ll find.

If you are prepared to search, you will find ezines which publish free ads, and many ezine publishers allow new subscribers a free solo or top sponsor ad.

2) Increase Your Opt In List By Posting to Forums.

If you think the only people to frequent online forums (or discussion groups or bulletin boards as they are also called) are spotty faced techno geeks, you are wrong…

Successful business people (and some of the wealthiest) use forums and they do so for 4 major reasons:

i) They are looking for advice – people like to ask for opinions about various products or services before purchasing. They also ask for help on using the multiplicity of ideas, tools and services available on the internet.

ii) They are on a search for new products – the replies to people looking for advice often contain links to new ideas, tips, tools and services, making forums a great place to search (and just as great a place for you to promote your list).

iii) They are searching for ideas for their own products – the types of questions asked, and the number of people asking similar questions often leads to the creation of a successful product.

iv) They want to make contact with others – quite often the owners of the tools and services recommended to those searching for advice will set up joint ventures with each other.

This is good news for you as a list owner if you frequent forums related to the topic of your list, because in no time at all you will be able to post numerous helpful replies to other forum user’s questions. Most forums will allow you to use a “sig file” at the end of your post. This is where you place a brief advertisement and the link to your list.

3) Increase Your Opt In List Through Small Changes to Your Everyday Business Stationery.

A common misperception is to think list building is only an internet marketing “thing”. The plain truth is offline businesses also benefit from building their own email lists.

If business is slow, you could send an email to your list containing a “discount coupon” for a particular product or service you sell. A boring morning idly watching people stroll past your shop window could quite easily turn into a mad rush, which leaves your cash register bulging to the point of busting.

To get people to join your list, you need to make maximum use of every piece of normal everyday business stationery.

On every invoice, statement, packing slip, delivery note, parts list, itinerary, you name it, you must have a brief advertisement and the link to your optin form.

You can build on these three tips and put together a formidable list building arsenal. Don’t sell yourself short by using only one method, use as many as you possibly can and you could build an incredible list in a relatively short space of time.

Have you even been to CNN’s website? Odds are you have, and have read quite a bit of news. The reason people read the news is because news reporters and anything news related really are almost always highley credited. If you see something on the news, odds are it’s not any old half baked scheme, or false bit of information. This is why news coverage is the best!

To get started, you need to create and send out press releases. Now here is the tricky part. To get these releases popular and quickley put out, you need to make them very outrageous and catchy, because that is what the average news reader wants to read. Reporters are keen on this too, and can easily tell a good, eye catching article from a poor, false article.

Gimmicks sell! Do something outrageous on your release, like offering every 5th customer the package for free! Or you could even just give away a sample or tidbit about your product for a limited time. The limited time offer is great, as it offers incentive for a customer to make the sale quickly.

Many news reporters suggest putting something radical, almost offensive titles and information in your press releases, to garner the most publicity.

For example, I remember a friend of mine built a few computers for his father’s business. His father was so proud of the work he got an article put up in the paper about his son’s ability to work hard and put togethor good, solid computers. Within 2 weeks, they had recieved almost 20 phone calls from subscribers to that very same paper asking him to do the same with their business or private computers. That’s a conversion rate of basically 100% Now can you tell me with a straight face that all of your visitors make you money?

Introduced in England in 1959 and first available in the United States
from 1960 to 1967, the Mini-Cooper is back. It’s been a unique sight on
American roads for the past three years, thanks to unique BMW
business savvy.

The Mini-Cooper wasn’t the top priority when BMW purchased the Rover
Group — Land Rover, Rover, MG and Mini — in 1994. BMW was more
interested in the luxury SUV market. But six years later, Rover was sold
to Ford and BMW adjusted its plan.

The new Mini-Cooper is among the results. For 2005 that includes my
test drive for the week, the S-convertible with a six-speed manual
transmission.

Like other retro vehicles in recent years, the Mini-Cooper has found a
market some 40 years after its first success. What drivers enjoyed in the
60s — an affordable, quick, efficient and fun-to-drive car — is what they
get now.

I’ve never driven an original Mini, but friends who have driven both
generations, say the new version is much the same as yesteryear’s
model. Yet, it’s also quite different.

The Mini Cooper S convertible is a first-time offering for 2005, and the
combination has vast appeal — and a few less-than ideal
considerations.

Foremost, anyone who likes to drive can appreciate the Mini. One of four
available models — the Mini-Cooper S has a 16-valve, four-cylinder,
168-horsepower engine. That’s substantially more power than its
predecessor.

As such, the car “jumps” from zero to 30 mph, particularly considering its
supercharged, 1.6-liter overhead cam engine. Consumer Guide testers
clocked the S model in the standard 0-60 mph in 7.6 seconds, while the
base model took 9.1 seconds.

Perhaps the Mini’s finest attributes are its steering and handling. The
response — maneuvering through parking lots or zipping along the
freeway — is impressive. The Mini-Cooper is among the smallest cars in
the United States — its wheelbase is 97.1 inches and its overall length is
143.1 inches. But driving the car on freeway surprisingly didn’t include
any notions of inferiority. It’s more like a cocky terrier who can hold his
own among big dogs.

The Mini-Cooper has more than once been called a go-cart for adults.
But its craftsmanship and unique features quickly catapult it into the all-
too-real class.

Beyond its swift acceleration and sturdy handling, the Mini has a good
supply of funky features.

Consider the huge speedometer in the middle of the dash. It’s as big as
wall clock, and it’s cool, for sure. And there’s also a small, digital miles
per hour display above the steering wheel in the center of the
tachometer.

Yet, the large speedometer is the centerpiece of the dash, and it also
features one of the car’s instrumentation drawbacks. A small digital clock
is positioned at the bottom of the speedometer and just to the left of the
digital odometer. It’s hard to differentiate the time of day from the miles
driven. Also, a swiveling cupholder, positioned to the right of the radio,
just seems to get in the way.

As a petite convertible, there are few other common concerns. Consider:

* The seatbelts are too-snugly positioned and hard to reach.

* The rear aluminum roll hoops drastically obscure the view through the
small, rear glass oval.

* The convertible top, which remained up during my test drive, has
“blindspots” between the front and rear seat side views.

* And even by small-car standards, the Mini-Cooper has a small trunk.

Yet, the Mini has many more positive attributes than issues.

* There’s plenty of front seat foot and head room, at least for a 6-foot,
185-test driver.

* The cabin’s tubular, metallic trim is sleek and modern, and the
glovebox cover and other interior areas are painted the same color as
the bulk of the exterior, in my instance “Chili Red.”

* Windows and other automatic functions are engaged with bullet-style
toggle switches on the dash, They’re separated by hip-looking black,
metal rings.

The Mini-Cooper S has a suggested base price of $24,900. Several
individual and packaged options are available, which in my test vehicle
included: 17-inch alloy wheels ($600), white bonnet body striping
($100), interior chrome ($200) and a Harmon-Kardon sound system
($550). Add the $550 destination charge and the final tariff is more than
$27,000.

That’s not inexpensive for a vehicle that might not get seen on the
freeway in the side mirrors of an 18-wheeler. And it’s not cheap for a car
that can’t hold more than a workout bag in its trunk.

But the Mini-Cooper is an enthusiasts’ car, and its appeal is its
personality.

Whether the driver is envisioning motoring along on a back-country road
in Britain or Germany or competing in a sports rally in the desert, it’s
easy to understand why the Mini-Cooper has retained a loyal following.
It also fares equally well in Anytown, U.S.A.

2005 Mini Cooper: The Weekly Driver

The recession could be a scary situation for any SME organisation, especially with the rate of organisations having to cut jobs in the last 10 months. With the economic market downturn it particularly makes the majority of business owners to decide to reduce yearly budgets for practically anything like place of work furniture. With all of this in mind, most company owners are now looking at 2nd hand furniture or uncostly office furniture.

Long gone are the times when companies would kit the office in oak and pine antique desks from the Victorian era and own marble flooring at reception. Numerous now use flat packed furniture. The pleasant thing about bargain furniture is that accountants can often actually get much more for your cash than company owners would expect. For the same price of an antique pine reception desk, firm owners can probably afford to find a woodchip reception desk, office chair, filing unit and office plant. Buy online Computer Desk from ComputerFurnitureWarehouse.com

With the recession, countless organisations will be seeking for ways to reduce outgoings. Assessing the expenditure that is not necessary will probably help numerous firms free up money to improve their financial situation. So next time companies are seeking to find office desks be fully aware that there is an affordable option out there if company owners look for it.

Whenever you get into a library you are captivated by the massive bookcases that are home to a power plant of information- books! They help the function of holding and protecting volumes and daybooks from debris and increasing their life. Bookcases generally have flat compartments for keeping publications. If you wish you can also have field glass doors to screen these books and show the backs of the books for effortless reference.

What is a barrister bookcase?

Barristers or lawyers demand to make use of several heavy and bulky books in the course of their practice. such reference manuals cost alot and are involved often.Barrister bookcases are designed with the same use of having heavy reference manuals for attorneys. They are also known as lawyers bookcases and can be produced in oak wood, cherry wood in various finishes and glosses.

What was the method of keeping books prior to barrister bookcases?

people did not feel the want for a bookcase as books were a rarity. Books utilised to be codified by hand in the past. They were placed in little containers by the wealthy individuals. It was the wealthy mans privilege to own and carry books as they were not affordable. These containers served as a bookcase for them.

After a while, these hand-handwritten volumes were seen in many well-to-do individualss homes. Due to this, the volumes were located in closets or on shelves. these cupboards gave rise to strong bookshelves found Now.

So what way were these books kept in the case?

The books were arranged in a conventional way. They employed to be stacked upon each other on their sides or kept upright with their edges on the outside and the backs facing the wall. The volumes utilized to be closed with a band made of leather, vellum or sheepskin that carried the title of the book. since this band had to be seen, the books were located with edges out.

anybody who liked reading could purchase books due to the publishing innovation.Another added benefit of publishing was that the newspaper publishers published the title on the back of the record so that the bounds were placed inwards.

Such cases were made of what cloths?

These barrister bookcases employed to consist of oak commonly. Other than that, maple, cherry and pine wood were also utilised for creating a barrister bookcase.Bespoke barrister bookcases can be made in steel too for reducing wood price and strength. Some of the oldest bookcases are in England in the Bodleian Library at Oxford University. They are placed here since the sixteenth century.

Chippendale and Sheraton were the leading bookcase designers who created the most beautiful bookcases. These bookcases indeed contributed to the elegance of the room.

Shifts In the Bookcases.

Because a barrister might require moving in to new chambers often, a portable barrister bookcase has been designed to serve their needs. this barrister bookcase is made after joining the several shelves that come separately. after you add a plinth and hood, the barrister bookcase is ready. This is genuinely portable as you dont need to remove anything from the shelf to move it to another location!

It’s not easy to find a college grant these days. Scholarships are different from a normal student loan in that the funds are a grant, and so, repayment isn’t necessary. As you look for means to fund a college education, remember that funds are accessible in unlikely sites, such as left-hander grants. Scholarships for Lefthanders: It may seem a little unusual to offer a bursary based on a predominant hand, however it’s worth considering this: Bill Gates is a lefty, as is President Barack Obama. Raphael, Da Vinci, Jimi Hendrix not to mention J.F. Kennedy Jr were lefties as well. Statistics indicate up to eleven percent of individuals are lefties. Often considered much more talented in the arts and more intelligent, left-handers have often suffered from discrimination in the past. Today, lefties are no longer stigmatised or thought of as odd, and may even have some things associated with the famous people mentioned above. There are many funds accessible for left-handed people when you look carefully. The Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship for up to a thousand dollars is available at Juniata College stuated in Huntington, Pennsylvania. For students of Juniata College and it was launched in the late 1970’s, this particular college fund assists a lot of left-handed pupils in their pursuit for further education. Some scholarships do have requirements and restrictions. This can include grades and financial needs. Multiple program applications may step-up the prospects of finishing with a negligible amount of debt. Societies, groups affiliated with hobbies and local organizations may be a source of scholarships. Left handed grants are simply one illustration; grants are available in other circumstances such as to the children of veterans or if you are disabled in some way. Searching for college bursaries can take a little time, but the payoffs will be worth it. When employed with student loans, they are efficient at cutting the inevitable debt that a college degree generates. Be very particular and research all opportunities. Remember the different options in addition to lefthanded scholarships – put together a list of all your local associations and make use of every accessible resource. Go for everything you might possibly qualify for, keeping any costs to a minimum, and you’ll look forward to a better career future when you finish school.

Caffeine is the modern drug of choice in the work world, easily accessible, socially acceptable, readily affordable, and of course perfectly legal. As for the health effects, I’ve read evidence both for good and ill, so right now I don’t fall strongly on either side. One thing is clear though caffeine is addictive. And this addictive nature is what leans me towards the negative side.

As a teenager I often drank sodas; cola was my favorite. I never drank coffee as a teenager, and I rarely drank it in college. But when I got into programming PC games, I’d sometimes drink coffee every day for months at a time. But I’d always eventually break the habit and have no caffeine for months at a time too. It was sort of cyclical.

Then I read the book Pour Your Heart Into It by Howard Schultz, which is the story of Starbucks (Schultz is the CEO). Schultz made gourmet coffee sound so good, that I embarked on a Starbucks kick for a while and tried all different kinds of gourmet coffees, espressos, soy lattes, etc. I know not all coffee drinkers like Starbucks (my mom surely doesn’t), but I still think their coffee is among the best. Another favorite of mine was Lion Coffee from Hawaii. I bought a nice espresso maker and used it to make my own soy cappucinos (I avoid all dairy products).

I really grew to like the taste of different gourmet coffees, which were much better than the swill I used to drink in college. But it was so easy to fall into a pattern of addiction, drinking coffee out of habit instead of only when I actually wanted some. Today I still drink coffee on occasion, but that’s the exception. Most of the time I don’t consume any caffeine for weeks or months at a time. I found it fairly easy to break the habit. Here are a couple ways to do it:

Method 1: Coffee to Herbal Tea

First, switch from coffee to tea. You still get the caffeine from tea, but not as much. Enjoy some good quality tea not Lipton! I particular like Earl Grey and Green Tea. I found this easy to do right away. But if you find it too hard to switch so abruptly, then make the transition over a period of weeks equal to the number of cups of coffee you drink each day. For example, if you drink 4 cups of coffee a day, then switch to 3c coffee / 1c tea for the first week, then go 2c/2c for the second week, then 1c/3c, and finally 0c/4c for the fourth week.

Next, make the transition from regular tea to caffeine-free (not decaffeinated) herbal tea. Herbal tea isn’t really tea, but it’s close. Celestial Seasonings offers a wide variety of flavors. I recommend getting a variety pack to see which kinds you like. You can do the switch abruptly, or use the gradual method above. Now you’re caffeine free.

Method 2: Coffee to Grain Coffee

Switch from coffee to grain coffee. Grain coffee is to coffee as herbal tea is to tea, and grain coffee is naturally caffeine-free. Grain coffee isn’t real coffee, but it’s a ground mixture of things like grains, nuts, dried fruit, and natural flavors that you can put into a regular drip coffee maker and make something that looks and tastes similar to coffee. Some grain coffees I tried were very bitter and well… disgusting. After trying a few different types, I found one I really liked: Teeccino. I buy it at Whole Foods. This has the best taste of all the ones I’ve tried, and it comes in a variety of flavors: vanilla nut, java, hazelnut, chocolate mint, almond amaretto, etc. Sometimes I mix different flavors together to make interesting concoctions. While I still usually prefer the rich taste of a good cup of Sumatra coffee, this stuff isn’t too bad. It tastes similar to coffee, but it has a unique flavor of its own, and it’s not acidic like coffee is. I typically mix a little Rice Dream (rice milk) into each cup to make it creamier.

A great way to transition to grain coffee is to mix it with regular coffee as you scoop the dry grounds into your coffee filter. So if you use 4 scoops of ground coffee normally, then try 3 scoops of coffee with 1 scoop of grain coffee for the first week, and continue to transition gradually as in the first method above.

Part of the addiction of coffee drinking is having a warm beverage, so the two methods above focus on that. I really like having something warm to drink, especially during the winter. I even have a small mug warmer on my desk. I usually alternate for weeks at a time between Teecino and herbal tea. Today I’ve already had two cups of Vanilla Nut Teeccino.

I suppose you could try a similar process if you’re addicted to soda by transitioning to something else like water or juice, but I’ve never found it hard to give up soda.

I don’t recommend decaffeinated coffee or tea because known carcinogens are used in the decaffeination process, and decaffeinated drinks are still highly acidic. From what I’ve read on this, I’d say you’re better off with caffeine.

When you give up caffeine, you’re likely to experience withdrawal symptoms. If I’m doing 4c coffee a day and then go cold turkey, I get headaches and backaches, and generally my emotions are out of whack for several days. But I still personally prefer to transition quickly rather than gradually. I’d rather just get the withdrawal over with.

Why Give Up Coffee at All?

I can’t ignore the energy boost and mental acceleration that comes from caffeine. But I do notice negative side effects when I drink coffee. Caffeine seems to make part of my brain overactive and another part underactive. I become really good at doing things, but very bad at prioritizing what needs to be done. If I drink a lot of coffee, I’ll often spend hours doing a bunch of low priority tasks, and I find that other unproductive habits are more likely to be done excessively. I become like a rat in a treadmill, doing more and more but not accomplishing what really matters. I find it very hard to focus on the big picture from a holistic whole-brain standpoint if I’ve consumed caffeine.

I also feel that caffeine blocks too much of my intuition and creativity. I miss subtle sensory input, and my thinking becomes too linear. Sometimes linear thinking is OK though. If I have a lot of menial tasks to complete, and I already have a clear to-do list to follow, drinking a cup of coffee can get me through them quickly. But if I have to sit down and do high-level work like developing my next quarterly plan, caffeine will make a mess of my thought process and dramatically reduce my ability to concentrate. My mind races too much on caffeine; it’s hard to stay focused on just one thing.

Additionally, caffeine definitely disrupts my sleep habits. Even if I have a cup of coffee in the morning and none for the rest of the day, I don’t sleep as well. I wake up in the middle of the night, or it’s hard for me to get out of bed in the morning. When I consume no caffeine, I sleep more restfully and wake up easily. I also don’t experience so much midday sleepiness.

And lastly caffeine makes me feel hotter than usual, including while I sleep. I need to turn the air conditioner up to feel comfortable, so that’s another hidden cost.

There’s also a nice page on Teeccino’s site about the top reasons to be caffeine-free.

I’m not saying you need to give up coffee entirely, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to remain addicted to it throughout the year, especially if you experience a drop in intution, creativity, and holistic thinking as I do. If you find it becoming an addiction, try one of the methods above to transition to a coffee substitute like herbal tea or grain coffee. Then you still get to enjoy a warm beverage without the negative side effects. I think it’s easer when you have a substitute for coffee instead of having to do completely without, but this won’t be necessary for everyone.

There is a lot to be said regarding Paid Per Click Advertising and Link Popularity. I will briefly explain the two and the merit of each.

Paid Per Click Advertising, simply abbreviated as PPC Advertising, is performance based advertising where advertisers spend money for every visitors that go to their website, depending on their objectives. This is a new way of advertising pioneered by Google. With this kind of advertising, webmasters will be able to quantify their return on investment and adjust their marketing dollars accordingly.

Why do advertisers use PPC advertising? Quite simply, advertisers can get an idea on how much they spent and what they expect from it. If one click costs an advertiser $ 0.50, then he can expect certain number of visitors with certain budgets. Furthermore, PPC advertising is one of the fastest way of getting visitors to a website. Registration is simple and an ad campaign can be prepared for as little as 5 minutes. If a webmaster want to grow big and quickly and he has the means to do that, then PPC is probably the best way to go.

Link Popularity on the other hand is geared towards a long-term survival for a website. One of the drawback of link popularity is the time taken to receive considerable amount of links from other websites. It can take months or longer. On the other hand, link popularity is more permanent than PPC advertising. Once your budget is spent on PPC, your source of new visitors are gone. Link Popularity stays there. If you have 1000 backlinks and it draws 50 visitors per day, then the chance is you will get that much visitors for the foreseeable future.

Another nice feature of building link popularity is that it costs you nothing in term of money. All you have to do is writing more contents or submit your websites to free web directories widely available.

One of the biggest drawback of building link popularity is time. As you may know, time is money. You won’t get lots of backlink in a short amount of period without spamming or buying a text link. Furthermore, you may not have much content and writing contents take time. This constraint can be solved if you have money to spend. You can spend money buying copyrighted articles for your websites’ content. You can also buy some individuals who will then submit your websites to hundreds of directories.

It all goes back to you. If you are pressed for time, you need to spend money to speed up the process. But if i were to choose, I’d prefer spending money on building link popularity rather than PPC advertising. The reason is simple. In attracting constant new visitors, link popularity lasts longer than PPC advertising.
