An E-Merchant? What’s that?

An E-Merchant is a person who makes his living by selling goods or services over the internet.

I am an E-Merchant. I have a business selling a service over the internet.

After having made my living running a financial services company with 40 employees for a decade or so I sold it and retired.

It was not to be. I quickly came to learn that I am one of those people that was never meant to retire.

Having been fascinated by the internet for a decade or so I was intrigued by the potential for marketing inherent in that medium.

I quickly learned that there are two ways to approach this. You can sell goods that involve shipping and inventories with all the problems that go with that or you can sell only things that can be paid for over the internet and delivered electronically.

A good example of the latter would be computer software products and E-Books.

I chose the latter and it has proven to be a very sensible choice due to the simplicity of the business flow and the vast supply of products and services to sell.

I have chosen this form of commerce because of the lifestyle and income choices it provides me.

What follows is my usual daily routine

Typically I awake to a fresh cup of coffee and commute to my office down the hall to my computer and key in my sales report for the night to see how many sales have come in during the night.

My website never sleeps. It is busy marketing in Australia and New Zealand and many other time zones while I sleep!

I have a system that provides me with all sorts of inventory for my store and it also contains a reporting system that tracks sales, keeps an ongoing balance of commissions and sends me a check every two weeks. I have never had a late check with this system.

After breakfast my Border Collie takes me for a walk along the river. He has an appointment with every squirrel and rabbit in the area and prefers not to keep them waiting.

After we return, I am back in front of my screen checking my website and its links to make sure none have failed overnight. Miss this little chore and it can cost you as a broken link means your customers can’t reach your product.

Then it’s on to read my incoming emails and answer those that need attention.

About now I like to log on to my financial sites to see what is going on in the investment world and make any moves that the days events demand.

On to visit my article publishers who have a reporting system telling me how many people have read my articles over night and which ones have been picked up for publishing by E-Magazines. Vital stuff this. The very life blood of my business!

Had an idea for an article involving the marketing day of an E-Merchant. Takes me about an hour to think it out and commit it to Word Perfect and send it off for distribution. It is accepted and published within minutes.

What an amazing thing the internet is! I can do more and more quickly by myself in the peace of my home than I ever could with a staff at my disposal in my previous life!

It is now 11:00 AM and my work day is over. That’s it! I’m done!

I am free to enjoy the rest of the day as I see fit.

Now let’s look at all this realistically.

You have to pay your dues.

Nothing of any consequence can be achieved without some serious effort.

For me that serious effort entailed months and months of research on internet marketing to gather the necessary information on which to base a sound business plan.

I attended several courses, bought various E-books on the subject and it wasn’t long before a pattern emerged.

No one source seemed to have what I, with years of business experience, would consider a cohesive business plan. It was up to me to glean bits and pieces from each so- called “Guru” and assemble a business platform that made sense.

As an aside, many of these “Gurus’ are nothing but charlatans who have nothing much to offer or have made up courses by pirating ideas from others and presenting that as original thought. Amazing how many of them are obvious repeats of each other!

I did, however, in my quest for solid information uncover the work of some individuals who were indeed making serious incomes as E-Merchants and had created a cohesive plan for success.

In my view you need four things to succeed in this business.

[1] A good work ethic and the ability to sort the wheat from the chaff.

[2] The ability to define exactly what you want to sell.

[3] A solid business platform that includes easily available inventory that is much in demand. You need a professional website, a good online payment system and a reliable payroll system to get the cheques into your mail box.

[4] You need to learn how to drive lots of traffic to your website.

Now I can’t help you with the first one but you can find competent answers to the other three by following the link in the Bio below where there is much more information on how to succeed in becoming an E-Merchant.

The author Simon Jones operates a business online that specializes in assisting those who would like to make a living as E-Merchants on line. Further information can be obtained by visiting http://www.howtoearnmoneyonline.org

Spray tanning is a relatively new method of sunless tanning. Technically spray tanning method is something between self-tanning cosmetics and tanning beds. You go into the spray-tanning booth where you are sprayed by a special mist. After a few minutes the process is over and in a short time you’ll the kind of suntan you want.

How does it work?

The mist used in spray tanning contains DHA, a chemical reacting with the outer layer of skin and dyeing it brown. Technically it works just like tanning lotions, but the booth and sprays assure that all the body will be equally covered with DHA. Spray tanning does not require any additional sessions - one visit is enough to get a suntan you need.

How long does it last?

Because spray tanning works only in the outer layer of the skin (the “dead” one), the effects can last only as long as a week, and they usually disappear in four or five days. As you see spray tanning is an excellent method to look very good for a short time. But of course, you can visit a spray tanning saloon once a week and retain your skin color almost indefinitely.

Can I make it last a little longer?

Well, the skin replacement process is unavoidable, but you can increase the lifespan of you tan if you do a few things before beginning the spray tanning process. Here are they:

(1) Moisture your skin with some water-based moisturizer prior to spray tanning. It will help DHA to propagate itself into your skin and will add to tan’s lifespan.

(2) Exfoliate - clear your skin’s outermost layer from those dead cells that are already about to fall off. The mist will dye only those cells that are supposed to last longer than a few hours.

What about the tan color?

Due to the chemical processes caused by DHA, it is impossible to get an improper tan color - it will be always a shade of brown. Of course, spray tanning lets you choose the right shade - by spraying the right kind of mist, you can acquire all the palette of browns - from very light brown to almost black ones. It does not change the session time.

Can spray tanning be dangerous for my health?

Spray tanning eliminates most health hazards typical for UV-tanning methods, so skin aging and cancer are no longer problems. The only possible hazard of spray tanning is an allergy for DHA, but as with kinds of allergy, this does not usually threats your life, like cancer does.

Is spray tanning dangerous for my clothes?

No, it isn’t. Spray tanning method rely on chemical reactions in your skin and DHA isn’t by any means paint! Even if mist has been used in excess, spray tanning does not create any stains and remains perfectly safe for your clothes (and people you shake hands with J).

Does it leave any odor?

It depends. While most waterborne sprays are odorless, many spray tanning saloons use oil-based mist and it leave some starchy odor, so it is not recommended to go to spray tanning saloon right before a date. The scent vanishes completely after a few hours.

Only a few years ago the estate agent was the one and only reliable method of selling your house, today you have many more options and, subsequently, the marketplace is a little bit more complicated.

In response to this change in market conditions many estate agents are using very underhanded tactics to trick you into using them. Tricks such as overvaluing your property to ensure you sign on with them. Remember, an overvalued property DOES NOT SELL for that amount. In all likelihood you will be stuck with the property for 6 months and when an offer does come in it will be dramatically lower than what you expect. By this time you will be desperate and the estate agent will suggest you go with the offer. The agent gets their commission based on the real value of the property whenever it sells; you will be the only person out of pocket.

What’s worse, by marketing a property at an overvalued amount, you can actually delay the sale further. Even when the price is finally reduced to a more realistic level, buyers can be put off by the length of time a property has been marketed for.

Further evidence of this can be seen by the campaign by the consumers champion Which, http://www.which.net/moveit/index.html, for estate agents to clean up their act.

An alternative option, which the agents will advise strongly against, is a private sale to a cash funded investor.

These sales can be completed in days and with flexible completion dates to suit requirements.

Let’s use an example to illustrate the advantages of NOT using an estate agent and selling direct to an investor.

£160,000 Market value as suggested by an Estate Agent

-£11,200 Typical offer through an estate agent is 7% less
-£3,760 Approximate fee for the agent (2.5% + tax)
-£1,000 Solicitors fees
-£9,700 Average house sale takes 6 months (assume 5% APR)
-£9,700 Average discount secured on next property by being a cash buyers

£126,640 Total real value of your home when you sell it.

As you can see there are a lot of hidden costs or lost opportunities (i.e. not being a cash buyer of your next property) in selling a property through the traditional methods of using an estate agent.

With investors they usually pay the solicitor’s fees and they have cash ready to buy your home so there are no delays and, as long as the offer is more than the figure above, you could actually be better off selling for less money!

In fact, by being a cash buyer of your next home you could save even more money.

So as, you could sell you’re home at £160,000 to a cash buyer for 126,640, and be no worse off financially than by selling through an agent.

What’s more you would have saved yourself 6 months of hassle, stress and worry. It is a well known adage that moving home is one of the most stressful things that someone can do, so by simplifying some of the money issues, can be a real emotional plus.

So, the next time you’re moving home, and an estate agent tells you a private sale is a bad idea, or you just need to sell your home quickly, think about the other options you have…that of the property investor.

Corporate brainstorming often fails because participants don’t enter into it in the proper spirit. There are two phases of the creative process: the imaginative phase and the practical phase.

The first thing to remember in phase one of a brainstorming session is this: all ideas are good. No matter how lame they may sound initially, write them down without comment.

You must establish an unthreatening environment in order to get your participants to loosen up and start throwing any ideas out. Consider these tips for better brainstorming:

First, identify the problem. It is often best to outline this ahead of time in written form so that everyone comes to the session with the problem defined.

Next, set the stage and the rules. Tell participants that the brainstorming session is for generating as many ideas as possible and that the person who comes up with the most ideas, not the best, will be rewarded. The only rule for brainstorming is this: no one criticizes anyone’s ideas. Positive thinking is the rule of the day.

Discuss the problem for a few minutes. Do you have it properly defined? Are you asking the right question? Here’s an example: about three hundred years ago there was a plague that first sent victims into a deathlike coma from which most never recovered. One man - an exception to the rule - was buried alive. The townspeople didn’t want this to happen again. One group had the costly idea to place food and water inside and an air hole from the casket to the surface. Another group’s idea was simple and low cost: place a 12-inch spike in the top of the casket so that when the lid closed there would be no question about the occupant’s status. Both answers were right, but the questions they asked were different. “What should we do if we bury someone alive?” and “How can we make sure everyone we bury is dead?”

Now, develop as many ideas as possible. Think quantity, not quality. You can sort out the wheat from the chaff later in the practical phase.

Finally, the session moderator is there to keep things moving. If things bog down, pull out these trusty questions. Why not? What if? What rules can we break? What assumptions can we drop? What if budget was not an issue? What if we looked at this backward from the desired result? Is there something we can eliminate in order to reach our result? Could we add something to the process?

Follow these tips and you’ll have better, more productive brainstorming sessions and creative thinking just might become a part of your corporate culture.

The article summarizes the Hyperthreading technology as best as possible in just ten steps.

1. Hyperthreading (HT) is term coined by Intel for Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT).

2. Hyperthreading is meant for dual-core or multi-core processors like Pentium 4 with HT or Xeon MP.

3. The technology aims at better utilization of execution units in a processor which otherwise would be idle.

4. This technique is better than its predecessor Multithreading and Superthreading in the sense that in each instruction cycle, a processor can execute instructions from mutliple threads.

5. Hardware implemetation of Hyperthreading is not very complex as reported by Intel “Implementing HT took only 5% more die space in Xeon”.

6. Implemeting HT needs hardware resources to be divided into Replicated(e.g. Instruction Pointers), Partitioned (e.g.Queues) and Shared (e.g. Caches)

7. For actual performance gain, your applications have to hyperthreaded i.e. you have to parallelize your code.

8. Hyperthreaded applications use Shared Memory Programming Model. Most famous Shared Memory Programming standard is OpenMP (Open specifications for Multi-Processing), an effort initiated by Silicon Graphics Inc. and now supported by major industry players. OpenMP library is available for C,C++ and Fortran on both Windows and Unix platforms. OpenMP programming constructs consists of few compiler directives for parallelizing the code.

9. There are compilers and other automating tools that support shared memory parallel programming libraries like OpenMP. Some examples are Intel C++ Compiler, Intel VTune Performance Analyzer and High-Level tools from KAI Inc.

10. Hyperthreading does not necessarily increase performance. With wrong mix of code, it can even decrease performance.

What Is Phentermine Used For?

Phentermine works by suppressing your appetite, and, therefore, decreasing your cravings for food you don’t need. You should use it along with a general meal and exercise plan to decrease weight. We will do as much as we can to help you meet your weight loss goals. You should improve your diet and increase your health at the same time you’re losing weight.

How Do I Use Phentermine?

Take Phentermine once every day in the morning, half and hour to one hour before your first meal. You may break the tablet or cut it in half. Do not chew up or crush your tablet. Try not to take Phentermine in the afternoon or evening, as it will cause you to have trouble sleeping.

Follow the prescription and instructions your doctor gives you. Do not continue to take Phentermine for a longer period of time than instructed. Also, do not take higher doses than you are told to, as this will only increase possible side effects.

What Are The Possible Side Effects?

Sleeplessness, irritability, dry mouth, constipation or stomach upset may be experienced in the first several days while your body is adjusting to Phentermine. If these effects continue to bother you, please talk to your doctor.

Is Phentermine Safe?

Inform your doctor of your entire medical history. Make sure to talk about any problems you have, such as an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, high blood pressure, or emotional conditions. Before you buy Phentermine, talk to your physician if you may be pregnant, or are currently breastfeeding. You shoud also avoid consumption of alcohol because it will probably increase a possible side effect, dizziness. Phentermine is not designed for use by children or young adolescents. Talk to your doctor for more information about this medication.

How Does Phentermine Interact With Other Drugs?

Please let your doctor know of every medication you are using or have recently used, (prescription and non-prescription) if you use MAO inhibitors (example: selegiline, phenelzine, furazolidone, tranylcypromine), medications for high blood-pressure, or any other medicines for weight loss. Be cautious about using “stimulant” drugs which could potentially raise your blood pressure and heart rate. These include drugs such as caffeine or decongestants. Decongestants are usually found in over-the-counter cold and cough medicines.

What Should I Do If I Miss My Dose?

If you miss one of your doses, don’t take twice as much at the next scheduled time. Simply skip the dose you missed, and begin again with your next dose at the scheduled time.

What Else Should I Know?

Phentermine, as with other appetite suppressant drugs, is not a replacement for good eating habits. For the best results, Phentermine should be used in addition to a balanced meal and exercise program. That’s where Shoppe.MD can provide a little extra help. If your friends or family want to know how to acheive weight loss as you have, just tell them to visit Shoppe.MD: Only a physician can determine whether or not they should take Phentermine.

Q. We are getting to the stage with our kids where they are becoming teen-agers and are asking for more and more privileges. When we believe we need to say “no,” our daughter says, “But everyone else gets to do it. Why can’t I?” We get stuck. We don’t want to be too strict or too lenient. How do we handle this stage?

A. That’s a really good question, because many parents get baffled by the everyone-else-gets-to-do-it-why-can’t-I maneuver.

My own parents’ answer to my “David gets to do it. Why can’t I?” was this: “If David stood on his head in the middle of the street in his underwear at 3 in the morning, would you?” I probably would have. And I never did figure out what that answer had to do with wanting to go to the movies.

Anyway, what my parents had stumbled onto with this saying of theirs was that they were simply not going to get hooked by the bait I was giving them.

Trying to argue against the everyone-else-gets-to-do-it maneuver is a no-win situation.

This is because many teen-agers are 15 going on 25 and 15 going on 5, all at the same time. Parents are faced with an I-want-what-I-want-when-I-want-it 5-year-old with the brains of a young adult who can put together a fairly convincing argument.

Master Manipulators

This combination is part of what makes teen-agers what I call “master manipulators.”

What happens is this:

Parents get hooked into the manipulation by believing that “why can’t I?” is a legitimate question worthy of a legitimate answer.

But the reality is this:

There is no answer you could give that would make your teen-ager say, “Hey, that’s a really good reason! Thanks for sharing it with me. Now I no longer want to do what I was asking about.”

It just doesn’t happen.

Another way to handle the everyone-else-gets-to line is to check it out.

Call up the parents of your teen-ager’s friends and see if they really do get to do all these things. Chances are the real story will be different from the one you are hearing at home.

Spanish style home decorating is a great way to get a rustic but colorful look in your home. This style, popular in the south, is really suitable for any area and can add a unique touch to any home.

When you want to decorate your home in a Spanish style, you will have a lot of fun. The Spanish style is very interesting with vibrant colors and textures used within it. You can bet that no matter how the home is decorated, you will need to incorporate the sense of family and community into the design. Take a look at how you can easily incorporate the Spanish style into your home. It can be really easy and fun!

Photos

One easy way to incorporate Spanish style into your home is with the use of family photos. You can use photos that you have taken yourself to get the task done. Simply choose various types of photo frames and put out your favorite pictures of family and friends. You should add them to each room to give the home a really comforting feeling.

Colors

When it comes to Spanish colors, you should think about using bright colors like red, yellow, orange, and blue. You will be able to bring out the Spanish décor elements with these bold colors. Be sure to add a beige or white to the mix as well to give the colors a nice background.

Furniture

Although it really doesn’t matter what type of furniture you use when you are using Spanish style home decorating, it should be comfortable and casual. Unless you are decorating a formal dining or living room, Spanish styled furniture is not overly formal. So be sure it is comfortable and big enough for everyone in the family to lounge on. Spanish style uses a lot of dark woods - worm wood in particular is nice.

Accessories

Use Spanish accessories to add an authentic touch to your décor. Grill grates and other accessories that use wrought iron can add a great touch, especially if they are vintage. Spanish pottery is another item that can be displayed in any room - on shelves or hang plates on scrolly plate hangers to give a unique homey feel.

Flooring

A Spanish style looks great with rustic tile flooring. Not the shiny porcelain stuff but the big reddish tiles with dark grout. Also, hardwood floors can go wonderful with this style. To soften up the room accent it with Spanish style rugs.

When you choose to decorate your home with Spanish style home decorating you can bring the elements in without spending a lot of money. You can simply add photos of your family, bright colors and comfortable furniture to get the look you want.

There seems to be a substantial body of evidence in support of the Mozart Effect. While skeptics advice us to take the whole “Mozart Effect” thing, with a very large grain of salt. Whatever the truth, maybe there are other effects that have come from studying Mozart that have had tremendous influence on whole music learning, piano playing through the study and research and practice of new methods and technology aids. And it does seem to work for many people, similar to the Mozart effect.

Mozart was probably the greatest improviser on the piano, ever. Mozart revolutionized various forms of music and put unusual combinations of instruments together. He had an interesting head start, he began listening to his parents play the piano and the violin months before he was born, while most people develop a special fondness for the music they listened to during adolescence.

Plato in ancient Greece believed studying music created a sense of order and harmony necessary for intelligent thought. Plants exposed to classical music grow larger and give higher yields than plants without this stimulus. Countless studies have shown the physiological benefits gained from listening to enjoyable music, as well as studies on the use of music to improve memory, awareness, and the integration of learning style. A relationship between music and the strengthening of math, dance, reading, creative thinking and visual arts skills has also been vastly reported in the literature.

Some of the research and methods utilized today, need to be tried and experimented with when allowing our children to take advantage of the options that are available to them. If you have a piano, let your children bang on it, notice their facial expressions, and see if they enjoy doing it. Give the child the confidence that they need to untapped a new world of experiences and talents. Imagine one note struck upon the piano by them is a melodic concert for him, never heard before. Let him enjoy the moment and the many more that will come, if you just let him.

There is a wonderful method that is on the market today that can speed the keyboard learning process tremendously - Piano Wizard. It comes bundled up in a software package that works with a home computer and a keyboard. It shows that beginner student all the fun elements of music learning in an easy, colorful environment full of instrumental sound options.

You will find plenty of information about this innovative piano learning game on the Our Sponsor page of MozartsWorld.com. Here’s their current headlines page on the Mozart effect.
